Site Monitoring is a versatile service that can be used in a variety of ways. Our favorite use case: helping farmers protect their crop.
Shrimp farms are in constant danger of disease that can be transferred from farm to farm. This happens when a farm discharges wastewater (ponds are drained for harvesting and when crops fail) into the surrounding environment. Issues can arise if nearby farms unknowingly intake this water to fill their ponds.
Using satellites, Site Monitoring detects when nearby farms fill their ponds and predicts when these ponds will harvest. With this knowledge a farm can boost biosecurity by not intaking water at times when high amounts of wastewater will be present. Farmers are also alerted when ponds empty early (indication of crop failure caused by disease).
